Sev1Tech is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Operations Advisor (TOA). This critical role supports the seamless, reliable operation of network services and components essential to the United States Space Force’s (USSF) meshONE-T mission. As the most senior member of the Operations Center (OC), the TOA directly supports, trains, and equips operators while ensuring mission readiness across a 24/7 watch floor.

The TOA serves as both a strategic advisor and technical practitioner—providing expert guidance to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and innovation across the meshONE-T mission. This role combines high-level advisory responsibilities with hands-on expertise, including the ability to backfill operational roles when needed. The TOA drives the continuous evolution of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), ensuring our Operations Center remains on the cutting edge of mission support.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Technical Operations Advisor, you will:

• Integrate cyber security, network engineering, SRE, and operations into a unified, forward-leaning operational strategy.
• Coach, teach, and mentor operations personnel. Develop tailored training and professional development plans to grow operator expertise and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Serve as a trusted partner to operations management, contributing to crew readiness, scheduling, resource alignment, and process innovation.
• Champion the adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies that improve mission assurance and operator efficiency.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Advice and Planning

• Recommend operational improvements that enhance system performance, resiliency, and security.
• Provide trusted technical and operational counsel to operations leadership and crews.
• Anticipate mission needs and drive innovation in operational concepts, processes, and capabilities.

Operational Oversight

• Serve as the senior operator, guiding and supporting crews in daily mission execution.
• Provide direct backfill coverage when necessary to sustain 24/7 operations.
• Ensure NOC operations are executed effectively, reliably, and aligned with best practices.

Technical Guidance and Innovation

• Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues.
• Review, assess, and recommend improvements to network design, architecture, and security posture.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and proactively integrate them into operational frameworks.

Incident Response and Problem Resolution

• Provide subject matter expertise during high-priority incidents, leading troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
• Guide operators through diagnosing and resolving complex issues.
• Drive after-action reviews (AARs) and lessons-learned to prevent recurrence.

Scheduling & Coordination

• Manage crew scheduling and resource allocation to ensure mission continuity.
• Balance operational tempo with crew well-being and readiness.
• Anticipate surge requirements and ensure coverage plans are in place.

Training & Mentorship

• Design, execute, and assess scenario-based training exercises for OC personnel.
• Develop growth pathways for operators, fostering cross-domain knowledge and career progression.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Coordinate with other meshONE-T directorates and mission partners.
• Ensure alignment between OC operations and broader mission objectives.
• Represent the OC in working groups, planning sessions, and innovation initiatives.

Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement

• Develop and refine SOPs, playbooks, and escalation protocols.
• Introduce automation, analytics, and other efficiency improvements.
• Ensure processes remain responsive to mission evolution and industry best practices.

Communication & Reporting

• Maintain clear, consistent communication across crews, leadership, and mission partners.
• Deliver timely and accurate reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Provide situational awareness updates to leadership and stakeholders.

POSTION DETAILS

• Job Type: Full-Time, Monday through Friday. May require after-hours response for urgent incidents.
• Work Environment: In-office SOC support with some hybrid flexibility.
• Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Sev1Tech office).
• Travel: Limited, primarily within the Colorado Front Range.
• Salary Range: $105,000 to 115,000 (negotiable, based on experience).
