Join the Team Behind NASA’s Boldest Missions
Are you ready to play a vital role in advancing space exploration? The Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Logistics Engineering and Marine Operations (LE&MO) Team is seeking a driven and experienced Marine Engineering Specialist to help ensure the success of NASA’s critical transport operations. In this unique and high-impact role, you’ll be the on-site expert overseeing the operation and maintenance of NASA’s Barge Pegasus—responsible for transporting some of the largest and most valuable flight hardware in the world.
Stationed at the historic Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), you’ll serve as a technical authority and hands-on leader, coordinating with contractors, evaluating complex marine systems, and ensuring the Pegasus is mission-ready at all times. This isn’t just a job—it’s an opportunity to apply your deep marine expertise to support groundbreaking space missions and help move humanity’s exploration goals forward. If you thrive on solving technical challenges and being at the heart of logistics that power spaceflight, this is your next adventure.
Develop and coordinate operational requirements for support facilities.
Author and compile technical documentation, including plans, specifications, and agreements.
Support and participate in trade studies, special teams, and milestone/document reviews.

Collaborate with Government, prime contractors, barge operations staff, engineering disciplines, and integrated product teams.
Travel 30–40% to NASA and contractor sites for reviews, meetings, and inspections.
Analyze and integrate specialized technical data on new or modified marine equipment systems.
Develop knowledge of Pegasus-related documentation (e.g., Ballast Water Management Plan).
Provide expertise in the design, operation, test, acquisition, and disposal of marine systems (e.g., generators, ballast systems).
Define requirements, establish specifications, and oversee equipment installations and performance verification.
Draft technical data supporting provisioning, publications, and maintenance programs.
Advise NASA on marine policy, design loads, and vessel configuration control in collaboration with entities like ABS, USCG, EPA, and Marine Design Center.
Ensure compliance with ABS, USCG, EPA, and maritime standards; conduct trim and stability calculations.
Develop shipyard Scope of Work (SOW), provide inspections, and manage real-time decisions regarding vessel safety and condition.
