Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Sev1Tech is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer/Editor to join our Army Tactical Network IPS team on-site in Aberdeen MD. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will play a vital role in creating clear and concise documentation for technical processes, products, and systems.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as an organizational Technical Expert and Senior Logistics Support Specialist responsible for providing policy and regulatory guidance to lower graded Logistics Management Specialists within the organization.
  • Develops, establishes, implements and maintains plans, schedules, controls, instructions and procedures related to the Integrated Product Support (IPS) aspects of assigned items throughout the equipment life cycle.
  • The nature and complexity of assigned systems require the employee to exercise knowledge of the DOD, DA, AMC, LOGSA and International Logistics acquisition, programming, supply, maintenance, and training procedures, together with a practical knowledge of the operational, functional and technical characteristics of these systems, including components and support equipment, to insure maximum adaptability and integration, into the user community and supply/support system.
  • Coordinates logistical requirements for studies in conjunction with other- commands, agencies and DA/DOD staffs to affect maximum supportability and distribution in accordance with directed -priorities. In this capacity, performs the following typical duties.
  • Serves as lead technical writer in an IPT/SIPT environment in support of program objectives.
  • Responsible for outlining, prioritizing and completing technical writings tasks in a manner that coincides with overall program cost, performance, schedule and IPS elements.
  • Operates independently, but within planned scope and content of assigned projects pertaining to end-to-end technical publication development.
  • Assists in preparing contract statements of work, supply support and maintenance documents directed toward specific target audience and skill qualification.
  • Chair publication sub-IPT for the conduct of verification and validation with assistance of target audience and OEM and vendors.
  • Reviews, edits and executes staffing duties leading to a final product for signature and authentication of publications and reference bulletins.
  • Integrates personal attributes, functional skills and unique expertise within the program IPS baseline demonstrating a holistic approach and development of a quality product advocating being both reliable, available and maintainable.
  • Maintains liaison with personnel of other agencies; i.e., AMC, ILSC, TRADOC CASCOM, LOGSA, Materiel Readiness Support Activity, Logistics Evaluation Agency, proponent schools and other commands having systems related responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with these other organizations in areas of IPS/Technical Writing planning, execution and problem solving as may be pertinent to assigned programs.
  • Coordinates with the TRADOC proponent on determining the training strategy and operational and organizational concept for each assigned item.
  • Ensures the training package is prepared to fulfill the objectives of the training strategy.
  • Coordinates, reviews, monitors and assesses reports of system deficiencies, failures or malfunctions reported during testing, logistics demonstrations and initial deployment, of systems to the field.
  • Ensures investigative efforts result in correction or elimination of problem, or if a design deficiency problem, that necessary engineering efforts are undertaken to redesign and eliminate the problem.
  • Conduct studies and maintains an intimate cognizance of assigned programs to apply the principle elements of technical writing/logistic considerations to influence decisions made on the design of hardware, systems and equipment from conceptual through phases to maximize field operational readiness.
  • Coordinates the preparation of technical publications/logistics, personnel and training portions of system acquisition plans, new materiel release documents, materiel fielding plans, manuals and transition plans to insure fielding and transition during stage.
  • Provides the necessary interface to ensure that commands, agencies organizations tasked to functionally accomplish their respective technical writing/IPS elements; i.e., maintenance engineering, preparation of technical publications, provisioning, TMDE, supply, personnel, training, training devices, and transportation, are provided guidance on systems development plans, fielding plans and schedules in order to respond in a timely manner.
  • Provides guidance on program changes and reviews the efforts of supporting organizations to insure timely accomplishment of objectives.
  • Assignments require the analysis of interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of substantive IPS mission-oriented programs.
  • Decisions inherent in planning, organizing and conducting studies are complicated by program goals and objectives which are conflicting and the need to treat subjective concepts.
  • Adoption of new methodologies designed to improve the effectiveness with IPS programs are administered and recommends new approaches to program evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a SECRET level clearance; Candidate must be a US Citizen in order to obtain and maintain an interim and final security clearance.
  • Minimum of six (6) year of professional technical writing experience producing technical documentation on programs supporting projects of similar scope and complexity to this requirement.
