Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Drives business development across opportunities for US Space Force strategic accounts/customers. Develop client relationships within multiple Space Force organizations in the Colorado and Washington, DC areas. Specifically, the Space Force Business Development Director will be responsible for the following items:


  • Identify and cultivate potential pipeline and organic growth.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and development of key opportunities
  • Develop a multi-million-dollar qualified pipeline. Accountable for achieving annual targets for identification and qualification of profitable pursuits.
  • Conduct customer visits and perform research to understand current and emerging customer needs and requirements.
  • Establish, build, and maintain customer relationships, plus assess competitor capabilities generally aligned to specific customers.
  • Develop customer solutions and value propositions based on customer and stakeholder inputs. Provide management with information to identify critical areas of the opportunity’s win strategy that minimize risks and maximize the probability of win.
  • Participate in bid decisions, the development of cost strategies and phase reviews.
  • Serve as the customer advocate during reviews to bring the voice of the customer into planning and strategy sessions. Organize and conduct customer liaison activities such as customer meetings, facility tours and product demonstrations.
  • Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits and develop marketing strategies for same.
  • Up to $180K

Position likely to require frequent travel (30%); Base of Operations is the Sev1Tech Office in Colorado Springs, CO

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field and 7-10 years’ experience in federal IT sales with the last 3-5 years in business development for the US Space Force
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Space Force’s programs and initiatives with the ability to open doors and drive business.
  • Proven success in BD sales to federal civilian agencies
  • Experience leading teams in pursuit of medium sized (annual recurring revenue– $50 million) or larger proposal efforts
  • Robust communication skills, including facilitation and/or mediation experience
  • Demonstrated successful past performance in business development (e.g., developing customer relationships, account strategies, developing a qualified pipeline, building industry relationships, and leading capture & proposal activities)
  • Experience leading customer engagement activities with Director and above representatives.
  • Innovative and efficient problem-solving skills
  • Ability to present in small and large groups, to include difficult messages
  • Ability to work in a team environment and create positive working environments
  • Ability to handle dynamic/complex work environments with diverse clients
  • Experience working with and/or leading Government related projects with a strong understanding of Government procedures/culture
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT)

Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with a DoD Secret government clearance, Top Secret (SCI Eligible) preferred
