Overview/ Job Responsibilities

The Lead Auditor supports the United States Coast Guard (USCG)'s Aviation Logistics Center (ALC)'s Business Operations Division's (BOD). ALC-BOD's primary mission is to optimize value for the ALC by fostering sound business decisions.

 

Within the BOD mission is the task to drive the ALC's business decisions through strategic alliances, process planning, data analysis and compliance with international quality and environmental standards. The quality and environmental systems enable our organization to develop and implement policy, objectives, and processes that address and fulfill customer requirements while maintaining strict adherence to all legal requirements. This includes taking action to improve performance and demonstrate conformity of the ALC systems to the requirements of the international standards.

 

The Lead Auditor is responsible for assisting ALC with maintaining internationally recognized certifications such as AS9110, ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001), ISO14001 and ISO9001. This is important to ensure ALC remains consistent in work practices and consistent with commercial industry:

  • Provide lead auditor support for current and/or proposed Business Systems certifications.
  • Plan, support and provide advisor/contributions in complex and critical efforts which include specific functional, technical, professional or policy areas of the project.
  • Conduct formal reviews, audits, assessments, and research on divisional technical documents, instructions, and processes based on a set of international standards to identify system gaps or opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct follow-up audits on action plans developed by divisions that are required to prepare for certification to existing standards and those being sought.
  • Investigate or identify business, scientific, technology, engineering, operational, professional and/or policy issues; conduct analysis of these issues; and provide advice in support of major programs/projects.
  • Coordinate and complete internal audits in support of selected international certifications for the command.
  • Establish Corrective Action Reports (CAR) response deadlines, assign CAR's to responsible divisions, monitor and summarizes progress of the audits as needed by the Quality Management Representative.
  • Prepare reports for Division/Branch review and upper management regarding status of audits and projects.
    Perform a variety of tasks within the Business Performance Branch (BPB) including audits of the Aerospace (AS),
  • Occupational Health, Safety and Advisory Services (OHSAS) and Environmental (ISO) standards including all supportive documents.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years Auditing experience and a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following:

  • Industrial Management
  • Quality Management
  • Business

 Trained in AS9110, AS9100 or ISO9001 auditing


Or

 

Two (2) years as a Lead Auditor and a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:

  • Industrial Management
  • Quality Management
  • Business


Or


Ten (10) years’ experience lead auditing and completion of Lead Auditor Certification Training in ISO9001 and/or AS9110 or equivalent

 

Clearance Requirement: Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship in order to get a Coast Guard clearance.
